"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead, Author & Anthropologist
So, you’re interested in volunteering…GREAT!
You can help adults learn to change their lives by volunteering with Peninsula READS. Our volunteer tutors teach basic reading, writing, math and conversational English skills to adults with a variety of literacy goals. No teaching experience or speaking of another language is required, but if you’re not sure about tutoring, there are other ways you can help make a life-long difference in the lives of the adults we serve. Just browse the menu to the left to find a volunteer role that works for you. Please keep in mind that most of our volunteer opportunities are a better fit for individuals than groups.
Once you’ve made your decision, or even if you haven’t, Contact Us to register for the next scheduled Volunteer Orientation. Don’t worry, if you are still not sure which volunteer role is best for you, we can help.
All volunteers must…
- be at least 18 years old,
- have a High School Diploma/GED,
- speak, read, and write English fluently,
- and be able to commit to a minimum of six months if you are interested in becoming a tutor.
